The gay, lesbian and transgender (GLT) advocates have successfully pressured the medical community for unfettered access to hormone treatments for children who exhibit gender difficulties. The treatments aren’t well studied and potentially could pose significant problems in the growth and development of children, some as young as 11 years of age.
Today, if a parent spanks a child, they run the risk of losing their kid to Child Protective Services. So why is it okay to experiment on kids using a completely unproven medical treatment with unknown consequences? (My book Paper Genders explores this issue at length.)
I remember the days when the evening news featured PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) activists in large numbers filling the streets. People shouting with bull horns, very vocal that the medical experimentations on dogs, cats and other animals should stop. I guess it is okay to do radical experiments on young kids but don’t dare experiment on lovable Fido the dog or fuzzy little Flossy the cat. Then the GLT advocates will shout and rip you apart.
Where is the outrage for unnecessary treatments on kids? Where are the big crowds standing in front of the Boston Children’s hospital where Dr. Norman Spack, a homosexual and transgender activist, uses hormone blockers on young kids with impunity? In fact, he is treated more like a rock star than a doctor.
An article by Perry Chiaramonte published this week (October 17, 2011) on FoxNews.com, says:
Dr. Manny Alvarez, senior managing health editor of FoxNews.com, said the hormone blockers also may pose a medical risk. “I think that it’s highly inappropriate to be interfering with natural hormonal growth patterns,” Alvarez said. “There are significant potential problems necessary for growth and development.”
“Potential long-term effects can include other abnormalities of hormones, vascular complications and even potential cancer. I think that if this child – as he finishes his puberty and teenage years – decides to undergo a transgender procedure – then there are proper channels to do so. But to do it at the age of 11 – to me – could be potentially dangerous to the health of this child,” he said.
Psychiatrist Keith Ablow, a Fox News contributor says, “Everyone in the family should be psychologically evaluated in a comprehensive way before a step like gender reassignment is considered.”
As a transgender myself whose life was torn apart by the early childhood thoughts that I should be a female, I can tell you the gender surgery is complete madness and is no treatment at all.
Doctors performing hormone blocking treatments should have their medical license revoked and the parents prosecuted for child abuse.
