People send me emails all the time to tell me their "justification" for allowing a surgeon to take a sharp knife and cut away at their genitalia and, in place of the male appendage, simulate something female. Frankenstein would have been proud.

Frankly, I do not give a rip why any man spends the big bucks so he can sit to pee. The only thing that is important is addressing the consequences these poor saps face as a result of surgery.

I get the regret letters frequently; they tell the real story:

"I detransitioned, I'm done with this stupid game."

"I had it all, now have nothing because I had gender surgery"

"Can you help my friend? He wants to commit suicide" (the friend had gender surgery in 2007)

From a medical doctor: "I had the gender surgery 6 years ago. The surgery should be classified as a criminal act"

So, who cares about your justification for ripping your genitals off? The devastating consequences suggest the justification is irrelevant.

Don't tell me "The Why"—I do not give a rip because all too often it ends in "R.I.P."

Mr. President Obama, please stop the excessive handouts

 Mr. President:

The only road you have paved for working Americans is a one lane highway to to despair with your "Obama Bucks".  It is a pitiful scene: Americans, dependent, standing in line like drug addicts at a federal office for yet another fix of money from you.  Yes, you have sure gone "green" buying votes.

How about this, Mr. Obama:

I was on "permanent disability" free housing. food and medical care for the rest of my life It sucked the life out of me. I got the courage to walk out of my government paid disability. I built a real life for myself; the government can't. It was in spite of the government handouts that I wrestled myself free, restoring my dignity that had been lost during my dependence on all the government handouts.

Mr. President Obama, get out of our lives and let us live free to rebuild the America you tore down.

Step aside. We want our country back; take your "Obama Bucks" and stick them where the sun don't shine.

Transgender specialist vs. traditional talk therapy

I’m sharing a story with permission today, a story similar to mine which shows an all-too-common cause of much regret.

We see the contrast in results between the skeptical traditional psychologist not suggesting or assisting in gender transition; and the specialist transgender therapist who moves the patient quickly toward hormones and surgery. Read the results in his own words:

I had it all: A loyal, bright and loving wife. A devoted son who is a published and tenured major university professor. Two adorable twin grand daughters. A successful career as a senior-level marketing consultant earning six figures annually with stock options and a company paid BMW. Self respect earned by serving as a church elder and board member on non-profit boards. Then—in just one year—I lost everything after undergoing a series of irreversible gender reassignment surgeries. So how did I get to where I am today?

Until I became Jennifer in late 2008, nobody except my devoted wife and a remarkable psychiatrist knew of my periodic struggles with gender dissonance. Despite hiding my gender confusion, I once took a leave of absence to experiment secretly with living as a woman. I also periodically experimented with estrogen and painful electrolysis. Fortunately, every time gender dissonance surfaced, my so-called “old school” psychiatrist pulled me back from the brink. He helped me cope by stressing what gender assignment surgery would actually cost. And I’m not talking about the more than $50,000 I ultimately wasted on comprehensive gender reassignment operations.

Even more astutely, my psychiatrist believed that my gender identity problems were formed as a sensitive child, who abhorred the violence, cruelty and bullishness of boys. As a result, I over identified with women, placed them on a pedestal and desired to be one with them in every way possible. But fearing social rejection—coupled with a deep-seeded desire to be “normal”—I worked hard to mask my feminine identity until 2007.

I likely won’t ever know or understand why my gender dissonance surfaced stronger than ever in 2007.  By then my psychiatrist had died. So I turned to professionals who specialize in transsexualism. Without verifying anything I told them (e.g. I lied about living the mandatory full year as a woman), I immediately was prescribed female hormones. Instead of receiving psychological testing and being forced to realistically evaluate the downside of gender reassignment surgery, we focused on where to have my eyebrows trimmed and to complete electrolysis.

Josie Romero, the transgender child; Dateline's Hota Kotb reports

On July 8 Dateline producer Tommy Nguyen enlists Dateline reporter Hota Kotb to interview the mom of young Josie (Joey) Romero. the transgender child in the story. 

We only need to look at the show content to find the onset of a transgender child in the making. It seemed to have started when the parents of Joey, a little boy, adopted an infant girl. This event seemed to have inadvertently telegraphed a message to Joey that he was not as acceptable as a female.A signal that he would have been more loved and acceptable if he were a girl.

So the son, wanting the attention and love of his mom that his new sister was getting, begin a pattern of behavior that mimics the acceptable sister. Perhaps playful at first, but over time forms a message in the boy that is difficult to erase. Such acting out is not unusual but when the acting out gets reinforced and approved by the parent, this starts a brain hard-wiring process that can lead to gender identity confusion.

By acting out as a girl, the boy steals the mom’s attention from the sister and, unfortunately, the development of a narcissistic transgender child evolves.

I became hard-wired as a transgender child when my grandmother repeatedly dressed me up as a female. This started the feelings that I was a female inside a male body. Eventually I was diagnosed as a transgender and underwent the recommended “treatment” –the unfortunate and unnecessary gender surgery, a surgery I regret very much today.

I think things would have been much different for the boy in the Dateline story if the adoption had been of another boy. That might have reinforced in him that he was just fine as he was. Dateline showed a pivotal point when Josie (Joey), sitting at the dining table as mom braided her hair, asked, “Mom, would you like me as a boy?” I saw a vulnerable child reaching out to his mom for affirmation of his male gender, an opportunity which was lost on the mom.

By mom allowing the child to diagnosis his disorder and not working with him to explore and identify with his male gender, his long term outcome is unclear and very troubling to this recovering transgender.
